EEC 2022 | Risk factors for post-stroke seizures

Yaroslav Winter, MD, Mainz Comprehensive Epilepsy and Sleep Medicine Center, Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany, discusses the various risk factors which may increase post-stroke seizure risk, such as a greater severity of a stroke measured on the NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Dr Winter also discusses how strokes which affect specific brain regions, such as the middle temporal gyrus, are associated with a greater risk of post-stroke epilepsy. This interview took place at the 14th European Epilepsy Congress (EEC) 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland.
