ACTRIMS 2021 | Improving recognition of cognitive-predominant MS

While most patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) experience cognitive impairment to a degree, a subgroup of patients with a cerebral/cognitive-predominant MS phenotype is becoming increasingly better recognized. Claire Riley, MD, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, New York, NY, discusses how an emphasis on treating physical disease manifestations has led to a better understanding of cognitive dysfunction. As treatments for motor relapses have improved, a patient population with low Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores who are more affected by cognitive aspects of MS have come into focus. This interview took place during the ACTRIMS Forum 2021.
