Cognitive symptoms are often reported by migraine patients during the different phases of migraine. Visuospatial abilities, processing speed, attention, and executive functions are the most affected cognitive domains. Roberta Messina, MD, Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, Milan, Italy, discusses a study that investigated the performance of migraine patients during a visuospatial task and the activity of brain areas involved in visuospatial processing. Dr Messina shares the findings from the study, which showed that the regions differently activated in the migraine patients compared to controls during the visuospatial processing are commonly involved in pain modulation processing. This interview took place during the European Academy of Neurology 2021 congress.
