CONy 2022 | Investigating the prevalence of neck pain in migraines

Sait Ashina, MD, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, provides an overview of a meta-analysis assessing the link between neck pain and migraines. Approximately 60% of patients with migraines and tension headaches will have neck pain as a comorbidity or a symptom of migraine and further research is required to reveal whether neck pain can predict the onset and intensity of migraines, and the efficacy of treatments and preventative therapies. Additional studies are also needed to investigate the physiological differences of patients with neck pain and migraines. This interview was conducted during the 2022 World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) meeting.
