MDS 2022 | Botulinum neurotoxin for the treatment of essential tremor

Sanjay Pandey, MD, Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital, New Delhi, India, discusses the current role of botulinum neurotoxin in the treatment of essential tremor. Oral pharmacological therapies fail to produce improvements in nearly half of the patients and lead to unwanted side effects in those that respond to the treatment. Therefore, a treatment modality such as botulinum neurotoxin could be an alternative, with clinical trials showing evidence of its efficacy in the treatment of essential tremor. This interview took place at the 2022 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders in Madrid, Spain.
