AAN 2021 | Therapeutic options for Tourette’s syndrome

Tamara Pringsheim, MD, FAAN, University of Calgary, Calgary, AB, Canada, discusses the current therapeutic approaches widely employed for the management of Tourette’s syndrome. Comprehensive behavioral intervention is used for many patients who have less severe tics. For patients with Tourette’s that is causing functional impairment, several pharmacological therapies are available, as well as behavioral treatment. Dr Pringsheim talks on the common applications of alpha-adrenergic agonists, anti-psychotic medications, and botulinum toxin. This interview took place during the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) 2021 Annual Meeting.
