ACTRIMS 2022 | Key developments in MS: RIS, the MS prodrome, & novel MRI biomarkers

Celia Oreja-Guevara, MD, PhD, University Hospital San Carlos, Madrid, Spain, highlights recent developments in the multiple sclerosis (MS) space that are likely to have a substantial impact on clinical practice in years to come. Great strides have been made in our understanding of the earliest stages of MS. Continued research into radiologically isolated syndrome (RIS) and the MS prodrome is aiming to refine the concept of the MS continuum and provide opportunities for early recognition and disability prevention. Dr Oreja-Guevara also comments on the rise of novel MRI biomarkers in MS, including the central vein sign and paramagnetic rim lesions. This interview took place at the ACTRIMS Forum 2022 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
