ACTRIMS 2022 | Investigating the role of the gut microbiome in MS progression

Daiki Takewaki, MD, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry, Tokyo, Japan, talks on current research into the role of the gut microbiome in multiple sclerosis (MS). While alterations in the gut microbiome have been observed in many patients with MS, the relevance of these changes is not fully understood. Work is ongoing to understand the impact of specific microbiome components on disease activity and the pathogenic mechanisms underlying these relationships. This interview took place at the ACTRIMS Forum 2022 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
