EHC 2022 | The value of real-world data in migraine clinical practice

Gisela Terwindt, MD, PhD, Leiden University, Leiden, Netherlands, discusses the value of real-world data in migraine research. Real-world evidence provides valuable information about the safety and effectiveness of a medication in large, heterogeneous populations with other comorbidities and enables the identification of response predictors. As novel ranges of drugs become available in clinical practice, further real-world studies will be carried out to gather additional insights, which will be highly important to guide clinicians on how to use the novel drugs and which patients will benefit the most – enabling the development of a personalized or patient-centered approach. This interview took place at the 16th European Headache Congress (EHC) in Vienna, Austria.
