Raúl Martínez-Fernandez, MD, PhD, and José Obeso, MD, PhD, University Hospital HM Puerta del Sur, Madrid, Spain, discuss the use of MRI-guided focused ultrasound (FUS) for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease (PD) associated motor complications. This technology employs ultrasound waves to create targeted zones of therapeutic thermal injury. Dr Martínez-Fernandez and Prof. Obeso comment on the non-invasive characteristics of FUS and the possibility to treat older patients. This interview took place during the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) 2021 Annual Meeting.
