IHC 2021 | The relationship between migraine triggers and early manifestations of migraine

Nazia Karsan, MRCP, PhD, King’s College London, London, UK, talks on patient-perceived migraine triggers as early manifestations of migraine. Dr Karsan suggests there may be an association between what patients perceive as triggers and the premonitory phase, as investigated in a recent study. Results lead to the assumption that some triggers are misconceived premonitory symptoms, where the brain is already active and producing the symptoms. The study also supports that the premonitory phase is active before the onset of pain. This interview took place during the International Headache Congress 2021.
