Dalia Rotstein, MD, MPH, St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, shares her thoughts on recent investigations into the link between social networks and disability in multiple sclerosis (MS) and other neurologic disorders. Studies have established wider social networks as predictive of improved long-term disability outcomes. Dr Rotstein highlights that during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time of heightened social isolation, this research area is especially relevant, and more work is needed to understand how social factors influence neural networks. This interview took place during the ACTRIMS Forum 2021.
