IEC 2021 | GABA suppressing drugs in epilepsy treatment

James Clement, PhD, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, India, discusses the evidence supporting γ-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) suppressing drugs in epilepsy treatment. Dr Clement describes studies showing that bumetanide, a drug suppressing GABA activity, was able to restore the synaptic function in mouse models with autism and can be helpful in epilepsy treatment. This interview took place during the 34th International Epilepsy Congress, 2021.
