EAN 2021 | Dawn of a personalized era in epilepsy care

The epilepsy field is moving towards more personalized management, with hopes of leaving behind trial-and-error approaches to treatment. John Paul Leach, MD, MBBS, University of Glasgow, Glasgow, UK, discusses how clinicians can use information from patients to pick the best treatment for them. Currently, there is little science to form the basis of treatment response prediction. Improving our ability to predict patient responses based on genetics would change the face of epilepsy care and may represent the next frontier. This interview took place during the European Academy of Neurology 2021 congress.
