IEC 2021 | Precision medicine in mTOR-induced epilepsy

Lena Nguyen, PhD, Yale School of Medicine, New Haven, CT, discusses precision medicine in mTOR-induced epilepsy. Precision medicine describes the treatment of patients with therapy targeted to their specific pathophysiology. As the epilepsy field is moving to this approach to treat patients based on genetic mutations, it is essential to study the impact of different genetic mutations to understand better how each contributes to the disorder. Moving forward, Dr Nguyen highlights that it is important to identify specific molecular markers that are crucial for the development of epilepsy. This interview took place during the 34th International Epilepsy Congress, 2021.
