CONy 2021 | Evidence supporting estrogen treatment in menstruation-related migraine

Simona Sacco, MD, University of L’Aquila, L’Aquila, Italy, discusses the current evidence supporting the efficacy of estrogen in menstruation-related migraine. Migraine constitutes an important societal burden in young women, where a significant use of estrogen in this patient group already exists. Currently, only observational evidence exists with respect to the use of estrogen in menstruation-related migraine. Large-scale, randomized, controlled clinical trials are required to truly ascertain the potential of estrogen in treating menstruation-related migraine. This interview was conducted during the virtual 2021 World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) meeting.
