EAN 2021 | Robots for rehabilitation in neuromuscular disorders

Gabriele Siciliano, MD, PhD, University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, discusses the use of robotic rehabilitation in neuromuscular disorders. Rehabilitation robots are a promising tool that can improve the performance of motor functions in patients with impairments. Robotic intervention can substitute human intervention and thus, overcome limitations of therapist availability and enable patients to carry out repetitive, high intensity movement tasks. Several technologies are now available in this setting, including end-effector and exoskeleton robots. This interview took place during the European Academy of Neurology 2021 congress.
