CONy 2021 | Reimagining dementia and humanizing patients

Peter Whitehouse, MD, PhD, of The Taos Institute, Chagrin Falls, OH, talks on the need to change perspectives in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). Reimagining dementia seeks to eradicate the idea that AD patients are “less than human”. When treating AD, it is essential to humanize those affected. While there are cognitive and psychiatric deficits to be attended to, by “reimagining dementia”, we can treat patients as more than those simply in need of a specific combination of drugs. This interview was conducted during the virtual 2021 World Congress on Controversies in Neurology (CONy) meeting.
