AAN 2021 | How to address sleep in neurology?

Sleep disorders are highly prevalent in the neurologic patient population. Logan Schneider, MD, Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, CA, gives practical advice to neurologists on how to approach the management of common sleep disorders that may affect their patients. Healthy sleep is related to proper neurologic function; many neurologic disorders can result in sleep disorders, and the lack of sleep often contributes to worse outcomes for neurologic patients. Dr Schneider outlines screening tools for evaluating sleep health such as RU_SATED, which can help identify sleep disturbances, direct treatment, and improve the patient’s quality of life and neurologic condition. This interview took place during the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) 2021 Annual Meeting.
