Didier Leys, MD, PhD, FAAN, FEAN, University of Lille, Lille, France, discusses the results from a recently published study exploring variables associated with long-term mortality after spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Results showed that patients surviving after lobar ICH have a higher risk of developing dementia in comparison to deep ICH survivors. It is thus important to follow cognition closely in lobar ICH survivors where preventive measures are less effective. This interview took place during the XXV World Congress of Neurology.
