Mira Katan, MD, MSc, FESO, University Hospital of Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland, shares personal highlights from the recent European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) 2021. Dr Katan comments on highly anticipated data from SWIFT DIRECT (NCT03192332), in which direct mechanical thrombectomy failed to show non-inferiority compared to intravenous thrombolysis plus thrombectomy for large vessel occlusions, and several trials concerning restart of oral anticoagulation for patients with atrial fibrillation who survived anticoagulation-associated intracerebral hemorrhage. This interview took place at the European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC), 2021.
