MDS 2021 | Why does COVID-19 affect people so differently?

Hadi Manji, MA, MB Bchir, MD, FRCP, National Hospital for Neurology, UCLH Foundation Trust, London, UK, shares his thoughts on potential causes of the extensive variability in clinical disease trajectories in patients with COVID-19. Immunogenetic heterogeneity likely has a role in why some individuals have much more severe illness than others, but more research into the immune mechanisms involved are critical to shed light on this important phenomenon.
