AAIC 2017 | Leaky guts and stress: their relationship with PD

Stress is believed to play a role in the predisposition for the neuropathology of Parkinson’s disease, by changing the microbiome of the gastrointestinal system and leading to a condition known as ‘leaky guts’. Here, Jeffrey Kordower, PhD from Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL talks to us about recent work which examined the effect of this phenomenon in animal models.
