Edward Wild, MA, MB BChir, FRCP, PhD, UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, London, UK, discusses the new age of therapeutic developments for neurodegenerative disorders. The molecular therapies that are currently being explored are aimed directly at the root of the cause rather than the downstream cellular functions. Despite molecular therapies being discussed theoretically for years, now they are being tested in humans.
