ACTRIMS 2022 | Highlights from ACTRIMS: comorbidities & paramagnetic rim lesions in MS

Burcu Zeydan, MD, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, talks about her highlights from ACTRIMS 2022 – discussing two presentations by Dr Ruth Ann Marrie and Dr Brian Renner. The presentation by Dr Marrie addressed comorbidity in multiple sclerosis (MS); it is often overlooked, yet common in many cases in the aging population. Comorbidity often leads to a greater frequency in relapses, increased disability, and increased mortality rates in MS. This can often be due to adverse interactions with treatments – requiring the consideration of polypharmacy. Dr Renner addressed paramagnetic rim lesions in MS – demonstrating chronic demyelination and emphasizing its importance regarding diagnosis. This interview took place at the ACTRIMS Forum 2022 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
