MDS 2020 | The importance of longitudinal COVID-19 studies and the potential of ASOs

Tiago Outeiro, PhD, University Medical Center Göttingen, Göttingen, Germany, discusses the importance of longitudinal studies to follow COVID-19 patients. COVID-19 patients could be at a higher risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, the long-lasting effects of COVID-19 on Parkinson’s disease needs to be investigated. Prof. Outeiro also expresses interest in the developments of antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) as a promising potential treatment to target α-synuclein and LRRK2. This interview was recorded during an online conference call with The Video Journal of Neurology (VJNeurology).
