BNA 2023 | Putting the MND community at the heart of MND Scotland’s research strategy

Jane Haley, PhD, MND Scotland, discusses MND Scotland’s efforts to put those affected by motor neuron disease (MND) at the center of their new research strategy. MND Scotland recognizes the importance of incorporating the experiences and opinions of patients with MND and their caregivers into the organization’s research application process, funding, and pipelines. MND Scotland align the research grants they award with the priorities of the communities, ensuring that research efforts address their needs. As part of this, lay reviewers are invited to review the grant applications, in addition to external scientists. Feedback is provided to both parties, keeping the community involved in the research process. This interview took place at The BNA 2023 International Festival of Neuroscience in Brighton, UK.
