AAN 2021 | The TRANSCENDS scholar program

Bruce Ovbiagele, MD, MSc, FAAN, University of California, San Francisco, CA, gives an overview of the TRANSCENDS scholarship. This program is a partnership between the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). It was established as a research training and mentoring program to foster the careers of diverse early-career individuals in neurology. The TRANSCENDS program includes an online graduate research degree program, monthly webinar conferences, and special interaction sessions at the annual AAN meeting. Dr Ovbiagele is hopeful that this program will translate into more research grants, promotions, and career satisfaction to underrepresented minority groups over time.
