EAN 2022 | Making neurological disorders a major global health priority

Tadeusz Hawrot, European Federation of Neurological Associations (EFNA), gives an overview of the global neurological landscape in the last year. The World Health Organization (WHO) is setting a comprehensive framework for neurological disorders that until recently was quite fragmented, with conditions such as stroke, brain tumors, and some infectious diseases not considered neurological disorders. Similarly, WHO is launching the Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and Other Neurological Disorders, a comprehensive set of actions and targets that will be implemented over the next ten years. This initiative will provide an excellent global framework that can then be translated to national and regional levels. Additionally, EFNA funded with EAN the OneNeurology initiative that aims to unite the neurology-related community to stimulate collaborative advocacy and action for the prevention and management of neurological disorders worldwide. This interview took place at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) 2022 Congress in Vienna, Austria.
