ECTRIMS 2022 | Imaging highlights in MS: updated guidelines, novel markers & remyelination

Celia Oreja-Guevara, MD, PhD, University Hospital San Carlos, Madrid, Spain, shares her imaging highlights from the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) Congress 2022. One of the most important updates at the meeting was the presentation of the international consensus 2021 guidelines on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in multiple sclerosis (MS) from MAGNIMS, CMSC, and NAIMS. Novel markers of MS, such as the central vein sign, optic nerve lesions, and paramagnetic rim lesions, were discussed as valuable tools to improve MS diagnosis. Lastly, Dr Oreja-Guevara highlights the advances in imaging techniques to measure remyelination. This interview took place at the ECTRIMS Congress 2022 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
