Maeike Zijlmans, PhD, UMC Utrecht, Utrecht, Netherlands, talks on using the presence of high frequency oscillations (HFOs) in neonates to predict epilepsy. Dr Zijlmans describes how HFOs are only recorded in some neonates, meaning that although the presence of HFOs is associated with worse patient outcomes, there is currently not enough data to confirm this association and more research is needed. This interview took place at the 14th European Epilepsy Congress (EEC) 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland.
