EEC 2022 | The prognostic potential of quantitative EEG in epilepsy

Lorenzo Ricci, MD, PhD Candidate, Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, Rome, Italy, discusses the potential of quantitative electroencephalography (EEG) in epilepsy. Dr Ricci talks on the advantages of low-density EEG, namely that it allows for large amounts of data to be collected which is a key requirement for machine learning. Dr Ricci describes the use of machine learning to evaluate the outcomes of treatment with anti-epilepsy medication and the potential to use machine learning to predict which patients with epilepsy will become seizure-free and which will not, following treatment, and how this may aid in the development of personalized epilepsy treatment. This interview took place at the 14th European Epilepsy Congress (EEC) 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland.
