Jack Reeves, MD, The State University of New York, New York, NY, comments on our current understanding of the diagnostic and prognostic potential of paramagnetic rim lesions (PRLs) in multiple sclerosis. While strong correlations have been observed between PRLs and disease severity and progression, Dr Reeves notes that more work is needed to determine the optimal metrics to assess as clinical trial outcomes.
