For clinicians to improve multiple sclerosis (MS) patients’ quality of life and optimize care, Mitzi Joi Williams, MD, Joi Life Wellness Group, Smyrna, GA, believes clinicians should fully participate in a shared decision-making process with the patient. Additionally, clinicians should seek out ways to develop cultural competence and be able to direct patients to resources to aid in the care of minority populations. Equally important is connecting patients to communities, for example societies and groups focused on understanding these patient populations and keeping them engaged in the healthcare process. This interview took place at the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) congress 2022 in Maryland.
