ECTRIMS 2022 | Hot topics in NMOSD: immunological & clinical considerations

Kazuo Fujihara, MD, PhD, Fukushima Medical University School of Medicine, Fukishima, Japan, gives an overview of the topics highlighted during a session on hot topics in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). Experts discussed the involvement of B-cells in NMOSD, the available treatments, and how treatment changed with the introduction of treatments supported by randomized placebo-controlled trials. The debate on stopping or de-escalating immune suppressive treatments in NMOSD was a highlight of the session. This interview took place at the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) Congress 2022 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
