Victor Rivera, MD, FAAN, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX, comments on the increase in prevalence of multiple sclerosis (MS) in various parts of the world, particularly Latin America. Prof. Rivera explains that this is likely due to the genetic dissemination that has occurred over the last 4-5 centuries, whereby high-risk Europeans intermixed with Indigenous populations. MS is uncommon amongst Native Americans, and the majority of MS that is observed in these populations are amongst people who have a mixed ancestry. This interview took place at the ACTRIMS Forum 2022 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
