AAN 2022 | Technological advances in the field of endovascular management

Johanna Fifi, MD, FAAN, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY, provides an overview of novel technological developments in vascular conditions. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) has assisted in clinical decision making in radiology and has consequently reduced the time to detect and treat various conditions in patients. The development of a new catheter with a miniature balloon system has additionally enabled delivery of embolic material in arteriovenous malformations, avoiding the need for surgery in some cases. Dr Fifi also talks on intrasaccular flow diverters, which have proven to be effective in treating aneurysms.
