ESOC 2022 | Endovascular thrombectomy: patient selection over time

Permesh Singh Dhillon, BMedSci, BMBS, FRCR, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, Nottingham, UK, comments on the importance of considering the variability among patients with stroke in how they progress over time. In the early time window, when stroke damage has had less time to spread, more patients will be eligible for thrombectomy. As time goes on, advanced imaging is important to select patients with a smaller infarct core that may still benefit from endovascular treatment despite late presentation. This interview took place at European Stroke Organisation Conference 2022 in Lyon, France.
