MDS 2021 | Integrating palliative care into everyday Parkinson’s disease management

Victor McConvey, RN, MACN, Parkinson’s Victoria, Victoria, Australia, discusses how palliative care is integrated into everyday Parkinson’s disease (PD) management. Over the years, palliative medicine has evolved from end-of-life support to holistic care of those earlier in their disease course. However, palliative care is not uniformly applied across the world and fails to reach many who could benefit. Mr McConvey highlights the lack of knowledge and support for patients with diseases other than cancer, especially those with a neurological illness. This interview took place during the 2021 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders.
