AES 2022 | The global burden of traumatic brain injury

Ramon Diaz-Arrastia, MD, PhD, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, shares his thoughts on the global health burden posed by traumatic brain injury (TBI). While systemic improvements in safety and medical care have led to reductions in TBI-associated death and severe disability in developed countries, the burden remains significant in low- and middle-income countries. Prof. Diaz-Arrastia comments on the need for worldwide collaboration and research specific to low resource settings to ensure new discoveries and therapies are actionable in all healthcare settings. This interview took place at the American Epilepsy Society (AES) Annual Meeting 2022 in Nashville, TN.
