EAN 2022 | Unmet needs in migraine: addressing inter-ictal burden

Uwe Reuter, MD, PhD, MBA, Charité – University Medicine Berlin, Berlin, Germany, shares his thoughts on the challenges posed by inter-ictal burden in migraine. Many patients suffer with symptoms in between migraine attacks that have a substantial impact on quality of life and are frequently not communicated to their doctor. Prof. Reuter highlights the importance of open patient-physician communication to allow patients to easily communicate their needs and improve symptom management. Recent data has demonstrated that anti-CGRP monoclonal antibodies impact migraine inter-ictal burden as well as migraine attacks, improving work and productivity in between attacks. Improved recognition of these symptoms is necessary to aid patient care. This interview took place at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) 2022 Congress in Vienna, Austria.
