Aristeidis Katsanos, MD, from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, discusses ongoing randomized clinical trials focused on closure of the left atrial appendage alongside anticoagulation therapy for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation. It is hypothesized that this combination will result in decreased rates of stroke compared to those who solely received anticoagulation therapy. This interview took place at the 10th European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) 2024 in Basel, Switzerland.
